With faculties failing
attributes ailing
and false expectations of comfort curtailing
you may think it’s madness
but if we all had less
perhaps we’d be less predisposed to feel sadness,
we’re born empty handed
and when we’re remanded
become simple spirits unsure where we’ve landed
a humble creation
with one expectation
to grasp at the chance of eternal salvation.
