Exchange

On Christmas, as kids, we risked the peril
of parental wrath to sneak a peek
at brightly wrapped presents that made us feral
enough to wildly shred and shriek
but now, it’s just like a worn-out carol
that drones for its allotted week
and trudging through the stores I’ve prayed
for somewhere to return this jade.

Awww...a bit sad but, I agree with you on the fact that the 'money' men/women seem to have done their very best to extend what used to be two days into a whole week now, it's all about the money and not what it used to be all about 50 years or so ago.

So sad. I guess we have to nurture the wonder of Christmas just like any other relationship. Not easy in the wild, mad rush!
