Panache

Today I watched a raven strut
across a busy street
his plume still has a jaunty jut
though he's flatter than a sheet.

nice - I dig that the Raven had such style - what a haughty bird eh?

Oh my, I take it the poor bird didn't make it. Sigh.

Awww...so sad. I guess the 'spirit' left in the raven despite the flatness, does show that life goes on after the 'physical' has departed.

I was smiling at his jauntyness and, just that quickly, as in life, he was flattened. Sigh. You made me see this so clearly.

All the taco sauce and mayonnaise he ate from fast food packets thrown out of vehicle windows must have addled his brain.

Love how such a short poem really gives us insight to the personality of an animal that goes unnoticed by so many. Nicely done.

This looks like the work of life at its pace on me when I'm drunk with words :D

I came on the scene after the fact, all I saw was a dark spot with 2 or 3 feathers standing straight up, fluttering in the breeze.

Jaunty jut indeed they do! we have
a local pair of brothers that call out, pretending to be offended & They call back and forth or simply harrang you for being outside with no treats!

Put a smile on my face although ravens and crows are very fast. I've seen plenty in the road, gathering carrion, but never seen one that actually got hit by a car.
