Recognition

I can just see it now:
I'll be a doddering old fool
confusion etched upon my brow
my chin awash in drool

throughout the meal I'll curse and cough
"This should have been pureed!"
and then I'll sit there nodding off
as charming toasts are made

they'll ask me to approach the stage
to give some prize away
while I inquire, daft with age
"So I wrote poems you say?"

I must commend your dedication to creative, non-forced rhyming. It's always great to read.

I love this! Made me smile, laughed aloud in fact. Hopefully, the recognition will come before one is a doddering fool!!

Awww...old age isn't for the faint harted, is it.
I smiled but, it is sad, really.

Both funny and sad at the same time. But laughing at our own difficulties is the best way to deal with them.

There is humour here, but also a subtle reminder of what might become us all soon enough, that makes the reader pause for thought.

This is great... I know what you mean, I can see this too... kind of scary. I try to stay firmly ensconced in denial... not me, not me.... :)

I love it--a clever piece and your second stanza especially made me chuckle.

Aw! You made me laugh and at the same time, made me wonder what prompted this? Well done!

Ah - the pleasure of humour and pathos mixed. But we have to laugh.
Note to self: Buy more flax oil.
