Report

They're back to talking heads
you know what that must mean
that soon they will be dead
contrived by the machine
and everything we're fed
will be served on a blue screen

and if you choose to eat
you're in for a surprise
the stuff they say is meat
while pleasing to the eyes
will leave you incomplete
a smorgasbord of lies

their gag-inducing course
that's trussed with many strings
as they amass a force
to guard the would-be kings
that will not feel remorse
when the concussion rings.

Spoiler

A long time ago
in a galaxy far away
we were given quite a show
a masterful display
of storytelling that could make
a lump within ones throat
but now they've done a modern take
to shamelessly promote
political correctness
to a sickening degree
and I will just ignore this mess
for no one forces me.

Thanksgiving

Is our destruction imminent
or can we somehow circumvent
the dreadful dragon's charismatic ploy
by being much more diligent
avoiding reasons to repent
and praising God with gratitude and joy?

***Hi all! As you may be able to tell from the title I meant to post this last month and also to celebrate my 10 year anniversary of doing this blog. I can't believe a decade has passed and how much writing I accomplished in that time. My great desire is still to somehow put out a book and maybe even do this for a living but as for now I am still your hard working, God fearing, occasionally cranky but always original Average Poet, so thanks to all who have stopped by and here's to 10 more years of creativity. Merry Christmas everyone!!!***

Dry Enough

I can't believe the lot I chose
to help relieve unneeded clothes,
the price for pleasure? A wealth of woes!

This skirmish I have not yet won
to not become my mother's son
keeps forcing me to die or run

as I attempt to purge the pine
and every pity - party line
to spare you all my spoiled whine.

Didn't Think I Would

I don’t miss work
Like those who think that sloth’s okay—
I don’t. Miss work
And every condescending smirk
The bosses send my way?
It just isn’t worth the pay!
I don’t miss work.

Patriot Act!

Idealistic talk
Does little more than balk
The realistic few
Who would much rather do

Sensationalistic fools
Pass reprehensible rules
Designed to dampen liberty
Submit or fight to say you're free

Knowing Parts

I know that things are changing
As to how we all are seen
And I've witnessed styles ranging
From obnoxious to obscene
But if your hair is in a bun
Then dude, your manhood's done!

Drifting

With each unremarkable day
my moorings are losing their grip,
I feel myself slipping away

the fibers are starting to fray
as I disconnect from the slip
with each unremarkable day

and drift towards the unending gray.
Most think it a lighthearted quip
'I feel myself slipping away'

but it's truer than I care to say
while forfeiting starch from my lip
with each unremarkable day

and trying my best to belay
this less-than-enjoyable trip.
I feel myself slipping away

and though I would much rather stay
my vessel has begun to dip--
with each unremarkable day
I feel myself slipping away.

Posthumous

My memories leave me hollow
like the crumbling shell that stands
a monument to shallow
sycophants with greedy hands

there's no one more complacent
than a fool who's satisfied
until they lie adjacent
to the rest who never tried.

Caesura

There are those who hang on every word you say
and some that wish you would just go away
I seem to be meeting the latter today

so graciously I shall desist
from asking if you get my gist
and humbly as I can -- exist.

Regulated

I'm just another car
in a long unending line
that never gets too far
we're governed by design

Tuesday, November 03, 2015

Determination

I put on my face
to enter the race
then pray for my portions of gravy and grace
and though I may tire
I will face the fire
or risk the demise of my one true desire

Undeniable

The only thing you can't achieve
is what you fear to try
it's tough to fail when you believe
that nothing can deny

your spirit when it sets a goal
or heart as it incites
your will to satisfy your soul
before the final rites.

Limp

I saw tomorrow
in a cripple's gait
and in my marrow
felt the weight
of aching sorrow
that won't abate
the line is narrow
twixt folly and fate

Suppressed

She thought of all the drugs she'd need to make it through the day
Decongestant, analgesic and some she wouldn't say
Along with one to keep destructive stomach juice at bay
When asses (as they tend to do) begin to loudly bray.

*squirm*

By the light of a street lamp I saw
a spider creep into the craw
of a crabapple tree on it's web
as the summer sun started to ebb

and shadows began to unite
becoming the framework of night
encompassing all as we crawl
inexorably towards the fall.

Askance

The mirror and I were never friends
but at least we could see eye to eye
now my sagging resilience descends
while I look away and just sigh.

Reality TV

Pandora called to vent about
her box's glaring lack
of morals and began to shout
until they answered back

"It seems to us the problem's there
and not our glut of smut
if you don't like the filth we air
then keep your peepers shut!"

Goodness

To write about life you must live it
To understand love simply give it
To profit from pain you must bear it
To make a gain meaningful share it.

Sunday, August 09, 2015

Forging

Decay and death surround me
contrivances confound me
while I endeavor simply to exist
my means are less than meager
my outlook not so eager
but still I raise a fierce defiant fist

I will continue trying
to keep my dream from dying
despite the drudgery I can't avoid
these chains are not in fashion
and can’t restrain my passion
in order for success to be enjoyed

Saturday, August 01, 2015

Count on It

I don't care one iota
about your quota
so please just go take a hike
for I'm extending
one number unbending
though it's not the digit you'd like.

Making the Cut

Creative thoughts are lost among
the droning drowning din
of battle to ascend a rung
and rake the bennies in

but every now and then I get
a chance to sit and jot
the few words that I don't forget
while fighting for that spot

a grizzled veteran of war
I carry on despite
the code of conduct I deplore
ignoring flags of white

my fuel is running way too low
to fall behind the line
it's hard to overcome a foe
that savors blood like wine.

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Game Face

I can't remember if I forgot
I don't have much but it's alot
I may get free but probably not
another verse? It's worth a shot

I try my best (despite this fear
that nothing I do matters here)
to always smile and appear
if not upbeat then cavalier.

Warning

Some will go fast, some will go slow
we all have limits how far we'll go
but despite the signs and painted lines
there will always be those who risk the fines.

Bomb

The spotlight morning sun
made him dream of a home run
so he could finally ditch his wretched dump
but then he shook his head
each night approaching bed
aware that he had just advanced his slump.

And as he mulled his streak
his hopeful views turned bleak
till one explosive thought caused them to stir:
it doesn't matter how you swing
for such a feat will only bring
you right back to the same old place you were.

Hi all! Well it seems reality has finally intruded enough to end my run of posting something every single day. It was fun while it lasted but my mind has been too weary lately for serious contemplation of any thought for long. But, I won't stop so any readers that want to hang around, please do. I feel my best is yet to come, are you reading me?

Sunday, July 05, 2015

Scuttling

Why do people like annoying things
like a plastic gondolier that sings
instead of hearing Nature's song
that soothes exposure to the throng

the sun itself becomes a balm
that helps my mind regain it's calm
I am a crab and it's time I think
to make that crooning nuisance sink!

Martial

That final day of independence
expired without much ado
the army corralled our descendants
and liberty was through

They didn't possess the fortitude
to put up much of a fight
born and bred to be subdued
oppression just seemed right

and now the only holiday
we get to celebrate
is when we are allowed to lay
our lives down for the State.

Inklings

A vortex makes a shadow that the light cannot escape
they swirl across the bottom of the pool in every shape
amoebic blobs whose fluid transformations make it seem
that matter can be malleable like that of which we dream.

Thursday, July 02, 2015

Round

Venus and Jupiter, so close again it seems
but really as distant as far away dreams
although from our angle their sequence is such
that one could believe they might actually touch,
celestial seduction, a sky spanning chase
that slips through the fingers of those who need space.

Keep Pushing

Push it down!
is all you hear
when you work upon the line
Push it down!
the leaders jeer
and make our numbers shine
Push it down!
you've got to hide
the sneer upon your lip
Push it down!
the rage inside
that product has to ship.

Instinct

All you can see is the spray
from the car that's leading the way
an occasional glimpse of a line
your only chance to divine
the lane in which you must stay

everyone's done for the day
forgetting what they did for pay
the downpour dampens their drive
they focus on staying alive
and navigate the gray.

Monday, June 29, 2015

Outgunned

Must life be a team sport?
No, but it's hard to hit the boards
when you can't even reach the court
against opposing hordes.

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Proven

Uncertainty insinuated
I wasn't up to snuff
Scrutiny intimidated
So severe and gruff
Tenacity reciprocated
I still got the stuff.

Saturday, June 27, 2015

Screwy

Ever tightened something down just to learn
you went too far and then the hole was stripped
but still you gave the screw another turn

in hopes that somehow threads securely gripped?
Although the truth is easy to discern
we seldom see it till the switch is flipped

and we've done things for which we'll probably burn,
despite how far away our soul has slipped
we still will give the screw another turn.

Friday, June 26, 2015

Remanded

I felt my focus dimming
until I acquired a job
and now my thoughts are swimming
with What’s this thingamabob?

careening towards September
I forfeited the key
and soon I won't remember
that I was briefly free

Stepping it Up

A rhythm can be simple or complex
the challenge is to get out there and move
ignoring all the stagnant types that vex
your chance to get into the perfect groove.

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

On the Line

Yes you must assess
how much to undress
and how much of the mess
to address

aye it takes a good eye
along with fingers that fly
and a propensity to pry
to rise high.

Don't stall

Your rig
Stand tall
Give hell
Build big.

Conundrum

How quickly a year
can just disappear
it leads me to believe

that time is a lie
and facts we deny
are chances we cannot retrieve.

Night Vision

Though the sun's begun to sink
it's not as late as you may think
despite the darkness day's not gone
until we see another dawn.

Packaging

How many have to die
in order to get wi-fi?
just ask the cable guy

they will cancel every tree
for spotless boxes are key
when tweaking receptivity.

Friday, June 19, 2015

Keeping It

I keep asking myself What is real?
then try to touch but never really feel
and when I look I never seem to see
a shadow of the man I used to be

but then the doorway opens and two joys
come running in and make a lot of noise
embracing me so hard I say "Gee whiz!"
and then I realize what real is.

At The Ready

The water casts reflections in the window where I sit
and watch for any type of sign that tells me not to quit
I've led a life more ordinary than I care to say
because I never had the guts to make a decent play

so now I'm tethered to a desk, a doggie on a chain,
it beats constructing boxes but I struggle to maintain
an attitude that's positive while waiting for the crack
I'll hear before the corporate whip makes mincemeat of my back.

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

*gulp*

The clouds are an ominous hue
as dark as a venomous brew
a witch would cook up
and serve in a cup
to turn someone's insides to goo.

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

Trouper

It was just another job
and he was just another slob
they paid a petty wage
that Uncle Sam would rob

performing on the stage
like a monkey in a cage
while swallowing derision down
along with dormant rage

awakened by the clown
that sports a would be crown,
but he just taped another box
and tried to hide his frown.

Monday, June 15, 2015

Commute

If I can maintain my current pace
I will arrive in the time of grace
but if I drop my rate of speed
a mark on my name is guaranteed
and no amount of schlepping will
alleviate the ink they spill.

Sunday, June 14, 2015

Stoic

I'm anti-people prone
but not in a dangerous way
I simply like to be alone
what more need I say?

I've had my share of being hurt
or better yet ignored
condemned to eating dirt
ever since they cut the cord

and so I glumly left
to wander far away
marooned beside a growing cleft
what more need I say?

Saturday, June 13, 2015

Heavy

There once was a lighthearted fellow
just brimming with laughter and joy
until he became less-than-mellow
in a despicable bastard's employ

he found out that loyalty mattered
to only himself it would seem
and once his beliefs became shattered
he also lost sight of his dream

there once was a lighthearted fellow
who should have stayed happy and free
but he was too feeble and yellow
and now he's a man of misery.

Qualification

The simpler types
don't have many gripes
and seldom (if at all) take any vicious swipes

and thus they're assigned
the tasks oft maligned
by those who'd have failed and incessantly whined.

Thursday, June 11, 2015

Boxed

The walls are made to circumvent,
their purpose is quite evident:
containing that which must be shipped
or one with pride that needs be stripped
of every shred they have inside
so no command will be defied.

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

Tall Order

Boxes mount
I lose count

Muscles ache
I won't break

Time drags
Life has snags

Never bend
Shifts will end

Tuesday, June 09, 2015

Making It

It doesn't matter what you were
when gauging who you are
the past is just a distant blur
a long forgotten scar

it's what you do today that makes
your life what it will be
so disregard those former aches
and manufacture glee.

Monday, June 08, 2015

Belabor

I simply tuned everything out
and focused on what I must do
it's pointless to grumble or pout
my collar will always be blue

I taped and I taped and I taped
I stacked and I stacked and I stacked
my arms were all dusty and scraped
my fingertips tender and cracked

the bottom is where I must start
while proving my talents anew
but I have a journeyman's heart
my collar will always be blue.

Sunday, June 07, 2015

Con

With so many sins from which to choose
you could swear you have free will
but any way you play you lose
and thus your choice is nil.

Saturday, June 06, 2015

Double Back

The artificial clouds have made the sky
as white as an old dog's blind eye
and that's how I've been feeling by and by—
I've never found the path to any truth
and often mutter tell me why!
just like in my foregone youth.

Friday, June 05, 2015

Abetting

Once you baby the bleak
you’ve got to coddle the weak
along with all the oozing slime
that think their sloth is sleek

so designate each dime
to those who take the time
to try and reach a higher peak
or else it's just a crime.

Thursday, June 04, 2015

Fresh Meat

I'm back in the gears
where machine and man mesh
deep in arrears
for my portion of flesh

I'll go and perform
like a good little tool
and try to stay warm
as competitors drool.

Wednesday, June 03, 2015

Runoff

I listen to another round
of early morning rain
it's such a pleasant fluid sound
I hope there's no refrain

there's drumming on the window sill
and every noisy splash
is like the sound the cymbals spill
a chill inducing crash

I feel the gentle rhythm lull
me softly back to sleep
until I'm pestered by the pull
of vows that I must keep

Tuesday, June 02, 2015

Citizenship

They promised me money
then took it away
and said, "It's not funny!"
when I wouldn't play
it used to be sunny
and now it's just gray
no dairy or honey
unless I obey.

Monday, June 01, 2015

Sourpuss

There are uninspired times
when I admit to feeling glum
what's lamer than my rhymes?
the pointless songs I strum

and though my brow will never be
one on which a laurel drapes
it still is my proclivity
to be quite fond of grapes.

Sunday, May 31, 2015

In Full

Five dozen sins or one
they all offend The Son
and though what's done is done

each day we have to try
to love and never lie
like He who rose on high.

Saturday, May 30, 2015

Periodical

He needed a coaster
and found a magazine
the night was a roaster
the worst he'd ever seen

the dew from his bottle
of beer left a stain
a ring that would mottle
the table's dark grain

so he used that paper
to lessen the mess
and planned his next caper
with hopes for success.

New Direction

I left my home up north
to experience the earth
and boldly sallied forth
abandoning my berth,

I gave the south a shot
to try out something new
but it was much too hot
so I rolled right on through

then I headed west
when told that gold was deep
then left when I assessed
there wasn’t much to keep

still consumed by wanderlust
I traveled to the east
where everything is left to rust
decay's unending feast.

My journies left me sad
for nowhere did I find
anything better than what I had
and I knew in my mind

the way the needle’s set
may not be your best course
your greatest journey yet
could be waiting at the source

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Bit

I'm a day behind
but I don't sweat
though I'm inclined
despite regret
to nevermind

but then I start
another bout
although my heart
is filled with doubt
I play my part.

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Colonialism

Each circle of sand
a sovereign land
where kingdoms rise
as fast as they fall
the soldiers so keen
to serve the queen

they'll rip apart
those who aren't smart
enough to realize
that one can be small
and still have might
you shouldn't fight.

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Dusky

I saw a shooting star far off
which sparked a sudden bond
and though I'm sure that some will scoff
I meshed with the beyond
until I reached my quiet keep
and drifted into dreamless sleep.

Monday, May 25, 2015

Present Arms

They laid down their lives
though terror would gnaw
like sentient knives
and stormed the dark maw

of violence and hate
in fields far away
their sacrifice great
salute them today!

Sunday, May 24, 2015

Ages

You cannot cheat it with a lie
no surgery, makeup or dye
can stop you from feeling less spry
or having to utter goodbye.

Saturday, May 23, 2015

Unheard Of

If I lost my voice
would you rejoice
or would you miss my drivel?
I've got all day
so fire away
and if you can, be civil
but if you can't
enjoy your rant
and I'll just sit and snivel.

Friday, May 22, 2015

Stillborn

I ruined the temple, I ruined my life
I ruined my chance to be free of the strife
they force one to live with in order to earn
that little gold star independents will spurn
I'll never be steered by those merciless reins
or fawn before despots to boast empty gains
and thus I will leave you who still haunt the earth
as dead as I was on the day of my birth.

Thursday, May 21, 2015

Scraggly

Should every weed
be guaranteed
a chance to take root and succeed
or should we yank
(expressions blank)
those we deem as lower rank?

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

On the Fly

A writhing mass of feathers in the road
made me sad because a bird was hurt
until I saw that lively lump explode
into two whose passion had been curt.

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Roughnecks

The cranes are in the river
their long necks sticking out
each slender graceful sliver

is like a supple sprout
with every load a shiver
will test that they stay stout.

Monday, May 18, 2015

Trappings

I'm not a fan of fame
but maybe that's because
it isn't mine to claim
and even if it was
I'd probably feel the same

for I prefer my peace
but in the spotlights glare
intrusions never cease
and you're in prison where
you'll never earn release.

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Plotters

I don't ever want to play the part of a statistic on a government chart -- The Police

To them you're just a tiny dot
that should give thanks for what you've got
the noise that skews their perfect bell
the feeders they would love to fell
so when you're pushed upon a graph
just spit into their eyes and laugh
for though the data's theirs to tweak
the earth is promised to the meek.

Saturday, May 16, 2015

Equalizer

A pool of light
immersed in fear
unholy sight
deception near

remaining free
not hard to do
remember He
who died for you.

Friday, May 15, 2015

Thrashed

Half my life -- for what?
A fool inclined to strut
beneath an auburn mane
so ignorant yet vain
offsetting every gain
despite the effort spent
we couldn't make a dent
as money freely flowed
except to who was owed
we reaped the tares he sowed.

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Robotics

No one wants to hear the truth
because it's such a bummer
as they indoctrinate the youth
and teach them to be dumber

the brightest pupils dimmer
through pointlessness and pill
until there is no glimmer
of purpose or free will.

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

Clarity

My mind's been like an agitated bat
careening all around the room these days
and though at times my grandson is a brat
today the grinning moppet calmly says
"I'm happy." and nothing seemed a bother after that.

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Criminal

If you choose to break the law
then you accept the risk
so please rehinge your jaw
and keep your mourning brisk.

Monday, May 11, 2015

Devilish

The blossoms gild the tree
a splendid banquet for the eyes
until the fruit is free
for those with appetites to prise
and gorge upon with glee

the flesh so firm and sweet
that no one thinks about the cost
they simply choose to eat
but hunger isn't all that's lost
the serpent's win complete.

Sunday, May 10, 2015

Fencing

The grackles had a spat
and peeping through the slat
gave me quite a voyeuristic thrill
but maybe I should mind
my own plot, lest I find
that privacy is dwindling to nil.

Saturday, May 09, 2015

Interloper

I hear the precious laughter
of little ones at play
on this normal seeming day
but will we hear it after

the process that approaches?
I'd best enjoy the fun
too impotent to run
as entropy encroaches.

Friday, May 08, 2015

Evaluation

I'm breaking every level of control
and freeing up my body, mind and soul
I'm broker than I've ever been before
but honestly, I've never felt worth more.

Thursday, May 07, 2015

Arbeit macht frei

It's such an endless hassle
to be a voiceless vassal
within a system skewed to dominate

you're just another number
they're eager to encumber
with the less-than-liberating weight

of chains that keep you docile
in service to a fossil
the foul and unforgiving fascist state.

Bright Spot

The willow's weeping has begun
from advances of the sun
whose burning touch on gangly limbs
awakens hidden things to grow
and soon a looming shadow dims
that former flawless glow.

The willow's weeping seldom ends
but still it hopefully extends
it's branches to embrace the grove
and capture golden grace
that spills from the Almighty's trove
upon our hapless race

Tuesday, May 05, 2015

Over Our Heads

There's a smoky smudge
where the sun once was
the sky like sludge
as more jets buzz

we gasp for air
to no avail
they cinch the snare
and leave a trail

it's hard to say
how much they hide
there's so much gray
that truth has died.

Got It?

History is a set of lies agreed upon. -- Napoleon Bonaparte

There is no fact
we can't retract
the books we print
will have no hint
how many died
on either side
so those of worth
can rule the earth.

Sunday, May 03, 2015

Innovate

No one knows beyond today
if they will get another play
and thus we must avoid cliche

remembering that all we do
is keep renewing rue
unless it's something new.

Saturday, May 02, 2015

Rabble

Those with power
will only share
a searing glower
with those who dare
to storm the tower

and never falter
in their cause
to shed the halter
and the laws
that prop the altar.

Leaving Pride

A playful leaf
pursued another
down the windswept lane
the chase was brief
because one brother
let the other gain.

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Zealots

A carpet of soldiers from last year's campaign
lie dead on the ground -- was their struggle in vain?
Some are still clinging to shiftier limbs
that held a reserve against wintry whims
their curled faded uniforms make them look poor
a sorrowful symptom of weathering war
made worse so because the unfeeling machine
will replace them with troops idealistically green.

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Yo

Snow covered daffodils?
Talk about unwanted chills
hey spring, I just can't hold my tongue
in case you missed it -- you have sprung
so drop the unresponsive front
I'm tired and refuse to hunt
for clothes that cover up my form
and long to say "You're getting warm!"

Xyloid

Sometimes it rots
sometimes it's dry
riddled with knots
shaved for a ply

fashions a nest
or fosters a riff
becoming the best
when it's nice and stiff.

Woo

Your body is becoming something I can't live without
one look and deep inside my heart starts drumming
compelling me to ramble on compulsively about
something I can't live without -- your body so becoming.

Arrival

He saw the slow cessation
of light and then he knew
the end of all creation
for judgment time was due

the angels poured their vials
as holy trumpets wailed
unleashing many trials
where wickedness prevailed

then his eyes were blinded
by the aura of The Lord
and all were soon reminded
of the swiftness of His sword

Verisimilitude

They've made it seem
that every dream
is yours for the attaining
while they decide
which genocide
should cull the ones complaining

Buy, buy, buy,
it's all a lie
to make their wallets thicker
as they pollute
the destitute
to try and make them sicker

Those with brains
perceive the chains
that chafe, so unforgiving
but their charade
is so well made
that most believe they're living.

Unplug

Those asking "What's the matter?"
really tend to scatter
when told "Your pointless chatter."

Desensitized by violence
they're stupefied by science
instead of seeking silence

where muddied thoughts can settle
and nothing trite can nettle
those of tougher mettle.

Thursday, April 23, 2015

Trepidation

My ears began to buzz
and I became chagrined
alert to any inkling
of atavistic twinkling
but it was just the wind
complaining like it does;

sufficiently removed
I resisted every urge
to seek intercession
for each past transgression
and tried my best to purge
the need that truth be proved.

Sting

Androgynous androids aim
to standardize the game
but if we never learn to strive
our race could wind up lame

and if we somehow do survive
a chosen few will thrive
with all the rest so tame
and ever loyal to the hive.

Red Dragon

It's crossed our skies so many times before
unleashing havoc as it thunders by
and shakes our planet to the very core
for there are certain laws we can't deny
like those that are imparted from on high
despite the fact that leaders scream "Ignore!"
we've got to make a choice before we die
to stand for right or bow to evil spoor.
Destruction will begin when mountains shake
and oceans overflow upon the land
eradicating both the strong and frail
that perish in the great chaotic wake
of one whose dark malevolence has spanned
the ages with a sweeping crimson tail.

Quirky

Anyone can shear a bolt
or suffer an impromptu jolt
that knocks them slightly out of whack
until they get their bearings back;
humanity is thusly geared:
we all can act a little weird.

Sunday, April 19, 2015

Temperate

The anxious buds begin to sprout
as birdsong echoes cross the sky
which makes me less inclined to pout
despite this fear of what draws nigh

our universe has many threats
but we must live, not dwell on doom
and banish unresolved regrets
if this be our last chance to bloom.

Portentous

Don't heed the haughty seer who believes they know it all
for there are many reasons that a dynasty must fall
but don't ignore the whisper when your instinct starts to call
as evil has a tendency to make our casings crawl

Friday, April 17, 2015

Oppressive

A very clear
cerulean sky.
The atmosphere?
It's time to die.

Cerulean sky
it means one thing
it's time to die
for drones to sting,

it means one thing,
their double speak
for drones to sting
is 'aid the weak'.

Their double speak,
the atmosphere,
is ' aid the weak '
it's very clear.

Nuance

Just look at the symbols they're using
and think of the message they're sending
they boast of their blatant abusing
and tell us submission is trending

we have to demolish the dogma
that keeps us entombed in the system
so when they thematically flog ya
turn off the damn tele -- RESIST THEM!

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Motionless

When you dug in your heels
you proved you wouldn't budge
although they upped the force

with every nasty nudge
(as petty people do of course
defending dirty deals)

but you assessed the source
and balked, ignoring the appeals
of those who saw you mired in a grudge.

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Lollygagging

I chose the path I trode
and can’t reverse my way
as elements corrode
the trail I tried to lay
a course of beaten stone
would more easily convey
a soul that roams alone
but dreamers tend to stray.

Monday, April 13, 2015

Kiln

At times it’s hard to take the heat
you can't glaze over every bruise
but those that do face each new feat
with strength, though brittleness ensues

Sunday, April 12, 2015

Cleansing

Have you seen a second sun
have you ever wondered why
it seems we all must die
another epoch done.

When skies are filled with fire
and solid ground is rent
the masses may repent
but their wealth of sins demand
a reckoning most dire
to purify the land.

Jaunt

I'm jammin' and jivin'
just barely survivin'
jalopies like mine have their dents
which makes me jumpy
the journey's been bumpy
I'll junk it unless it relents.

Friday, April 10, 2015

Infestation

If material things are illusion
then how do I know that I'm me
or is it a bigger delusion
we're all just too fond of to see?

The values we use to determine
validity must be reviewed
if we're just dimensional vermin
there are places we shouldn't intrude

but if we aren't wrong to aspire
to be something more than we are
we have to decide which desire
will help us to make it that far.

Thursday, April 09, 2015

Hubris

It's time to shed the haughty sneer
and learn to be more humble
endeavoring to reach one simple goal:

eliminate the needless fear
that causes us to stumble
so we can finally feel completely whole
and love will emanate from every soul.

Wednesday, April 08, 2015

Governed

They're always watching out for us
All citizens must board a bus
enacting really helpful laws
Keep it moving, do not pause
They're kind and smart and know what's best
Resist and you will face arrest

Tuesday, April 07, 2015

Foreclosure

It tough when you think you're a player
but they kick you out of the club
and strip you down layer by layer
to bear their contemptuous snub

You should've remembered that money
is only worth something to those
who welcome you in when it's sunny
but can't wait to cash in your woes.

Eternal

He rose once again despite having died
to comfort disciples that shamelessly cried
His love gave him power beyond mortal ken
despite having died He rose once again.

Happy Easter

Evocation

The thunder of railcars colliding
is booming across the lawn
dramatically coinciding
with my humble prayers this dawn

I whisper a painful petition
for my sick and dying friend:
Please change his unhappy condition
and grant him a dignified end.

Saturday, April 04, 2015

Default

It's just as vital that I share
these words as breathe the air
and diligently dole
out portions of my soul
to feel somewhat whole
and duck despair.

Friday, April 03, 2015

Conspiratorial

Beware the puppet masters
that profit from your debt
to those immoral bastards
you're just a marionette
resist manipulation
from the shadows up above
they offer you temptation
in an iron-fisted glove
we have so much more power
than they want you to believe
forget the urge to cower
and unite when they deceive

Thursday, April 02, 2015

Bonnie

Her speech was coarse
her voice was hoarse
from a pack and a half a day
with every puff
it grew more gruff
and she an unhealthier gray

her hair dyed black
she had a knack
for making her lips bright red
clownish to some
but as sweet as they come
and I mourned when I heard she was dead.

Wednesday, April 01, 2015

Analog

Will upload resemble existence
or should we maintain a resistance
if iron and clay come together
we breach the dilemma of whether
a soul can be pulled from the nether

but realms such as this should be skirted
desire for godhood deserted
instead we should focus on solving
Society's lack of evolving
and keep our blue haven revolving.

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

We're Flocked

Serene as a sunny day
as brutal as a wolf
you'll never know that you're the prey
until the jaws engulf

regardless of how quick your stride
it's doubtful you can duck
the predators in charge who hide
until their teeth have struck.

Monday, March 30, 2015

Abandoned Lot

I maneuver my car twixt the lines
for that is the point, is it not?
A shame we must dodge the designs
of those who take more than one spot.

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Fruit Loops

Why would we forfeit the right
to walk beside God in the glade?
Our hungers began with a bite
the flesh, ever since then, decayed
reminds us of that which was lost
as we try to downplay the cost.

Saturday, March 28, 2015

Empathize

There's none more annoying than those
who feel that their personal woes
excuse them from acting with grace
we all have our demons to face

if fodder is all that we are
why glorify every last scar
when soothing the pain others feel
could help everybody to heal.

Friday, March 27, 2015

Advantageous

Never surrender momentum
for when you're on a roll
is the best time to go and get ' em
attrition takes its toll.

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Encompassing

The circle of life is astounding
if we take a moment to see
how beauty is ever abounding
resplendent in every degree

instead of pursuing a tangent
that only will benefit you
embrace our miraculous planet
and harmony's bound to ensue.

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Administration

They'll give you whatever you want to stay calm
their blasphemous blather a backhanded balm
convinced their concoction is all you will need
to make sure compliance can be guaranteed

so take what they give you and swallow it down
inject as directed to banish your frown
It's part of the program to nurture the health
of craven connivers with corporate wealth.

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Shackled

The futility of humanity
is knowing how good we can be
while wading through all the insanity
birthed by our greed and ennui
if we could just vanquish our vanity
perhaps we could truly be free.

Monday, March 23, 2015

Had

Where's the rumored pea
shell 1, shell 2, shell 3?
they're too adept to see

we'll never be assuaged
for showy war is waged
a misdirection staged

the day has been so brusque
a shell's an empty husk
as darkness follows dusk.

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Prepper

I'd never ever try to force
my views on other people
we all must draw from our own source
be it science, soul or steeple

but when it seems the end is near
and everyone is frantic
I hope my praying won't appear
as overly pedantic.

the mirror's hard enough each day
it's time to point the lens away.

Wreck

The trains traverse the track
all day long and through the night
click-clack click-clack click-clack

they're heading to the coast or back
with freight to expedite
the trains traverse the track

and belch their breath of black
as though a dragon might
click-clack click-clack click-clack

you can't mistake the smack
of steel so clear and bright
as trains traverse the track

the engineers won't slack
their schedules too tight
click-clack click-clack click-clack

for humans have a knack
we railroad what is right
the trains traverse the track
click-clack click-clack click-clack.

Garments

A dress is just a well cut piece of cloth
over which the surface dwellers froth
our pride and vanity so very clear
when it costs more than most make in a year.

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Recalibrated

My early days were filled with those
who truly seemed to care
and never made it seem a pose
to congregate or share

but once I grew enough to try
and place within the race
I quickly grew unsettled by
the glaring lack of grace

displayed by most with whom I ran
which caused me to withdraw
and I became a lonely man
repulsed by what I saw

until one day a little voice
said "Papa" then I knew
another reason to rejoice
which multiplied by two

a pair of hearts that I adore
removed my glaring pout
reminding me what life is for
and what love's all about.

Monday, March 16, 2015

Tribulation

How can you tell if you're numb
or simply too jaded to feel?
my conscience is suddenly dumb
refusing to voice an appeal

and everything seems so surreal
that nothing resembles a sum
but most will mechanically kneel
when they see the red dragon come.

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Drop of Sanity

A single drop of water on my windshield was illumed
by early morning sunlight and a brilliant prism bloomed
the multicolored spectacle of vibrant promise loomed
which for the moment helped relieve the fear that we are doomed.

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Show's Over

You can always adapt a role
but once the character's dead
you might as well dig a hole
and kiss respect goodbye
recalling fondly when instead
the script was cut and dry.

Brainwash Bop

In the days of my youth
there was beauty and truth
in the music they made
that's why it's still played

today it's all rote
with one single note:
how much will you buy
of this growing lie?

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Gushing

The bolder sun
has now begun
to march across the creek
and soon will pelt
the icy belt
where it's innately weak
the wound will flow
with every blow
then roar as things get bleak.

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Well?

It's good to love
and live the here and now
but when they shove
will you stand tall or bow?

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Successful

My failure is most evident
to the least discerning eye
but still I feel somehow content
and I really don't know why

perhaps because I never rank
my joy upon the chart
of those who yank out every hank
to prove they have no heart.

Monday, March 09, 2015

Buying It

A crow was on the wire by the stop
sign where we turn each day to purchase smokes,
it perched there like a horror movie prop
as we continued cuddling our yokes;
we're tolerated if we just produce
and blindly go along like all the rest
but everything is filtered to reduce
the harshness of the toxins we ingest
which fosters the acceptance of their brand
a new improved behavioral device
provided in a handy dandy bag
that they expect to dominate the land
regardless of the ever rising price
does anybody want another drag?

Sunday, March 08, 2015

Lifeline

You grasp every smile
as though it were rope
when drowning in vile
lies without hope

you cannot look past
what heaven supplies
a glimmer that's cast
in their loving eyes.

Saturday, March 07, 2015

Humility

The need to be somebody
has ruined many a soul
they leave behind a bloody
trail of corpses as they roll
better a big nobody
than winding up in a hole.

Friday, March 06, 2015

Culmination

The omens are haunting if conscience is taunting foretelling a future ferociously daunting but most are so vapid they don't see the rapid approach of the suffering Satan finds sapid the risk with religion is being a pigeon (we all have misgivings, even a smidgen) but faith is specific and must be prolific to weather the judgment which will be horrific.

Thursday, March 05, 2015

Stomp

The darkness is descending
and soon no one will see
the blackness that's contending
with hopes for what can be

how vulgar degradation
replaces wholesome trust
and love's alleviation
is trampled in the dust.

Wednesday, March 04, 2015

Double Take

Why's the world so damn intent
on ending that which we've been lent
a paradise where all can thrive
for decadence and detriment
and serving selfish sentiment
exhausting every resource to survive
but someday soon we may repent
when wondering where it all went.

Tuesday, March 03, 2015

Having a Heart

To me, it seems that it will know
when it is time for me to go
when that which I am here to do
is done and there is no more rue
for then at last I'll be at peace

I'm not sure how it may decide
I've failed at everything I've tried
and hopefully it's not the case
that all my unresolved disgrace
just simply causes it to cease.

Monday, March 02, 2015

Enabled

People make use
of any excuse
they feel will exonerate
their lack of will
so they can still
lie and procrastinate.

Sunday, March 01, 2015

Suspended Animation

I feel like I am stuck between
my destiny and dull routine
but I don't get too much support
so my ambition's life is short
and thus I gander out this pane
where it's begun to snow again
a cartoon in a crystal cage
immobilized by this ice age.

Saturday, February 28, 2015

Knowing Better

Those who believe what they've learned
ordains them to piously preach
should know when humility's spurned
enlightenment's harder to reach.

Friday, February 27, 2015

Onslaught

Among the wretched horde
I trudge
and though I can't afford
this grudge
I give my trusty sword
a nudge

for I can never drop
my guard
each time I do, they lop,
I'm scarred
so I have learned to chop,
and hard

the problem is -- I hate
this war
you fight or capitulate
your shore
to types that salivate
for gore.

Thursday, February 26, 2015

Have Mercy

He tilts his head just so
displays an impish grin
because of something devilish he's dealt
I shake my head real slow
then he firmly hugs my shin
and suddenly my heart begins to melt

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Order

There was enough sun today
to melt some ice away
but not enough to say
that spring has sprung

but everything's okay
for we must obey
or suffer the dismay
of gods we're among.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Situational Gravity

The corpulent spokesperson warned
'Good health should never be scorned '
they might have picked someone less great
for the words to carry more weight.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Abundance

If aid is truly given
to those who help themselves
I should have been more driven
refusing dusty shelves

but one can be rewarded
(though miscreants say nay)
and happy moments hoarded
by working hard each day

so live your life with vigor
even if you fail to see
a sign of something bigger
and love wholeheartedly.

Sunday, February 22, 2015

Reduced

You smolder and simmer and solemnly stew
until there is only half of you
but do not feel you've been done wrong
for what is left is twice as strong

Saturday, February 21, 2015

Subsequent

Youth! Energetic, frenetic — pathetic
adopting others faults
so things stay copacetic.

Age! Pensive, defensive — apprehensive
about doing somersaults
for love that's comprehensive

Friday, February 20, 2015

Honor Bound

I challenge my mind to compose
a poem or possibly prose
and it has been up to the task
whenever I happen to ask
despite the distraction of woes

these words are my reason to be
my purpose and impotent plea
so all I can do is relay
whatever it is they.must say
while there is still breath within me.

Thursday, February 19, 2015

Bait

Farm-raised fish are free
of choice, thus perfect fare
for suckers that can't see
insistent strings they wear.

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Resuscitation

I try not to dwell
but can't seem to quell
this negative tide
that's surging inside
and making me sink
with tendrils like ink
that keep pulling down
and soon I may drown
unless I can swim
against this dark whim
and get back to where
my lungs can breathe air.

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Sore Winner

Competitive? You have no clue
how hard I'll play to conquer you
and if somehow I chance to lose
we may find out how fast you bruise

Monday, February 16, 2015

Winterized

I saw a sluggish trickle leak
through the shell that sheaths the creek
perhaps a sign a thaw will grace
us (or we'll freeze in place).

Today I went and took a peek
but there's no flow of which to speak
the crystal scar compels a scowl
as colder winds begin to howl.

Sunday, February 15, 2015

Trivialities

The mote of dust
(this precious gift)
on which we drift
is fraught with lust

for selfish ends
(as it careens)
despite the means
or who pretends

they do no wrong,
(well don't we all?)
dismiss The Fall
to say we're strong

but that's an act
(a deadpan shtick)
to hide we're sick
and that's the fact

this role we play
(within the farce)
is so damn sparse
we're swept away.

Saturday, February 14, 2015

Advisory

It's been too many days in a row
of unrelenting cold and falling snow
my car looks like a salt-encrusted bass
this winter's really wearing out my ass.

Friday, February 13, 2015

Dream Vacation

I know it's out of reach
but I'm dreaming of the beach
the warm inviting sand
the sun a golden peach

an icy beer that's canned
(my favorite hoppy brand)
is waiting in the shade
while I get deeply tanned

and nonchalantly wade
through the surf, get sprayed
for my land gets so hot
no snow is ever made.

Thursday, February 12, 2015

Indulged

A crafty pencil creeps across the page
and coyly drops a calculated clue,
attempting to enticingly engage
the agile type that hankers to pursue

a tricky trail of other subtle hints
to keep a mind that's curious well fed,
and then perhaps profers some peppermints
for it made someone happy to eat lead.

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Yoohoo

I feel the sun refresh
my frozen flagging flesh
so I can now complete
this sidewalk and retreat
to where it's nice and warm
forgetting there's a storm
that's racing it's way here
Oh Spring, where are you dear?

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Leaners

An addict always blames the drug
and not their lack of strength
the drunkard takes another chug
then justifies at length

that their sickness isn't such
it's just how they get by
refusing to release their crutch
until the day they die.

Monday, February 09, 2015

Stormy

Trudging through knee-deep snow
can really help one rethink their wrath
with every well-placed step they'll know
what it's like to walk another's path.

Sunday, February 08, 2015

Poignant Reflections

Jupiter moaned to the moon
"Your radiance is such,
I fear my light will fade and soon
unless we chance to touch."

"Majestic god" the moon replied
"I'm flattered by your charm
but soon my less-than-glowing side
may cause you some alarm,

so let us just enjoy this night
where we appear so close
two wanderers that seek love's light
and savor this small dose."

Saturday, February 07, 2015

Doers

Some are born to reach the top
some to ever fail and flop
the rest will make it halfway there
then level off and stop

so if you feel you want to stare
at endless sky you best prepare
to hazzard every drastic drop
that threatens those who dare.

Friday, February 06, 2015

Chain Reaction

Words aren't deeds
deeds aren't titles
wants aren't needs
needs aren't vitals
hearts aren't shells
shells can spiral
lies are hells
hells are final.

Thursday, February 05, 2015

Sixth

Here we are at six
and he's already seen
the ills that we can't fix
the ugly and the mean

but he still has a loving heart
and hopes a mile high
combined in someone super smart
I know he'll learn to fly!

Wednesday, February 04, 2015

Pandering

A mountain of white
I cringe at the sight
and pray for the sun to start melting this blight
it's not much to ask
from those who would bask
in the aura of one more than up to the task

Tuesday, February 03, 2015

Enough Bull

Oh yes, it's quite a field
if you're chosen to get in
you feast upon what others yield
and sport a snooty grin

you get to strut about and vent
so arrogant, aloof
while all the herds you represent
must take it on the hoof

and when you're done a pasture waits
expansive, calm and lush
while those who followed you face fates
where blood will surely gush.

Monday, February 02, 2015

Mobius

You hear the beep and fumble to hit snooze
is it tomorrow, or is it still today?
You grasp at truth that's harder to refuse,
you hear the beep and fumble. To hit snooze
and lay there aching like a bruise
will keep you in the throes of the cliche;
you hear the beep and fumble to hit snooze
is it tomorrow, or is it still today?

Down with Welfare

Freedom and ignorance, a dangerous mix
unleashing a system in need of a fix
but takers don't care
to chance a repair
for then they may end up with nix

and what have they done besides breed?
creating too many to feed
a gluttonous glut
that deepen the rut
reducing the chance to succeed

increasing the number who take
(why try for autonomy's sake?)
and soon we could see
how glum life can be
when everything starts to break.

Saturday, January 31, 2015

Retry

I'm playing to gain
every point I can shave
so I can attain
the level I crave

the boss is a bitch
and I can't seem to get
past this one glitch:
there's no sure bet

Friday, January 30, 2015

Return

The opposite of a people person
I guess that's what I am
weather, office, politics
I just don't give a damn

but if you'd like to talk about
the things we'll never know
an increment of interest
just may begin to show.

Thursday, January 29, 2015

Busybody

Some are so bent
to learn your intent
they'll bend over backwards to hear
whatever you say
so they can relay
it to anyone else who is near.

Dash for the Stash

He streaks across the wire
a flash of white and gray
avoids accumulation
with such coordination
along with every tire
and any hungry stray

he's looking for a snack
to calm a growling gut
the winter has been grueling
and he is through with dueling
hunger, and now is racing back
to where he hid his nut.

Color Commentary

The weatherman said
before we went to bed
that mounds of snow would fall throughout the night
this morning instead
his face is quite red
because there's not a single speck of white.

Monday, January 26, 2015

Abysmal

I felt in need of something
but nothing would avail
my spirit shed the sadness
that joy could not curtail

a melancholy deeper
than the vast unfathomed sea
and infinitely darker
than the depths could ever be

a place so cold and distant
it sees the sun no more
and I the lonely traveler
that roams the vacant shore.

Footing

A person's charity can drain their shares
but cheerfully they float another round,
as long as they are buying no one cares;

in fact, you'll find there are no empty chairs
whenever someone generous is found.
A person's charity can drain their shares

and make their credit rating need repairs
while everybody else's ills are drowned,
as long as they are buying no on cares

about a benefactor's vexed affairs
with endless foamy glasses neatly downed;
a person's charity can drain their shares

and ruin their good name (there are no spares)
but moochers aren't concerned if someone's sound,
as long as they are buying no one cares

if detrimental deficit impairs
another's chance to pay their fleshy pound;
a person's charity can drain their shares,
as long as they are buying no one cares.

Pep

If you have to start anew
there's not much you can do
but roll up your sleeves
and give a few heaves
to make sure you pull through

and when life seems unjust
just knock away the dust
forego the frown
for though you're down
it only gets better from bust.

Recipe for Frustration

A cook is cursed to care
about another's fare
despite the hunger they are forced to bear
ignoring every pang
while serving with a clang
contentment that's as fleeting as the bell they roughly rang.

Internal Affairs

How many innocent children must die
how many grieving families must cry
how many times must we pray to our God
while laying another lost babe in the sod
aware that we'll never receive a reply
despite how much we prod.

The change we seek is not divine
it must be by our own design
that we resolve to foster love
and not the need to push or shove
while blaming anything malign
on forces from above.

***Dedicated to all the poor victims of child abuse.***

Bankrupt

The wheel spins
the victor grins
the loser wishes for some wins
as clues are sought
the puzzle fraught
with paradox adeptly wrought
but is it wise
to jeopardize
one's innocence to earn a prize?

Not Feeling It

It's hard to caress the air
to run your fingers through some hair
when no one's there

or brush your burning lips
against a bust that ever slips
right through your grips.

Leeway

Does life force ebb
as we run out of Web,
the sprawling silken skein
too fragile to maintain?

Every strand we weave
becomes another span
reminding us to leave
connections when we can

but bonds are prone to break
where stresses interact
unless we learn to make
a more forgiving pact.

New Day

Another chance to love and learn
to grit my teeth and try
within my heart begins to burn
like fire in the sky.

Tradeoff

I find it hard to say
I advocate the melee
but feel a love-fest would be
anathema to me
and so I spend each day
recalcitrant but free.

Tetrad

Your distant coldness
and stony silence
underscore the sky
with brilliant observations
(unless you're feeling shy
and cloak yourself in shadow
that we readily supply)
but soon you will turn bloody
when we happen to align
a sign we can't deny
of judgment from on high.

Folding

I'm drifting in and out of coherency
the disconnect almost complete
while cursing compulsive transparency
for telling my abject defeat

I've never been much of a masochist
life can be painful enough
but the problem with being a pacifist
is building a betable bluff.

Flower Power

The crystal blooms borne
this merciless morn
encumber the limb
much more than adorn

the sun is so dim
that chances are slim
we won't be forlorn
as winter turns grim

and though I feel worn
I will not be torn
from visions that brim
with lilacs reborn.

On the Go

The creek is slowing to a crawl
and clinging to the rocky wall
the frigid air can crystallize
aquatic skin before your eyes

but underneath it still moves forth
despite this salvo from the north
as we must also move each day
although we seldom know the way.

Turncoat

There is no cure
for the self-saboteur
so save your precious breath
they'll undermine
their own design
and naysay it to death

Unplug

The room of broken devices
is littered with debris
obtained at cut throat prices
to satisfy a spree

perversity in plastic
the world can ill afford
it's time for something drastic--
rebirth by cutting cord.

Elbow Room

Those we trust
are those who bust
our bubbles with the greatest lust
so live each day
with less dismay
by keeping them a nudge away.

Transitory

I try my best to reconcile
my need to commune
and aversion to guile

determining quite soon
in order to smile
my path must be strewn

for at least a good mile
with those like the moon
that fade after a while.

Extenuation

A massive swirling gyre of birds ascends
the ominously darkened winter sky
as though perhaps today's the day it ends
but we must suffer more before we die
and so I trudge away forgetting why
I even care about the startled birds
unless I move there won't be time to try
today's attempt to find the proper words
that help define my legacy (as such)
instead of just a way to pass the time
while waiting for that final judgment day
and yes I do admit I'm out of touch
denying my detachment as a crime
but sadly I don't get the final say.

Curiouser

There have been troubled times in life when I thought I'd like to leave
until I realized how well self pity can deceive
so now when things look bleak I do my best to make amends
besides I'm truly dying to find out the way it ends

On a Wing and a Prayer

It seems a crow
with a broken wing
traversed the snow
the poor hurt thing
I track the string
of prints and lo
it let me bring
relief from woe.

It cocked it's head
and onyx eye
I offered bread
(nice tasty rye)
it had a try
and ate, then fled
while hapless I
prayed in its stead.

Reject

The fabric of truth's made of fiber
distorted by those prone to stretch
but I've never been a subscriber
to wrinkled remains of a wretch
as the ginger would-be-king gets reamed
by those who pilfered as they beamed.

Inert

Can lesser beings be content?
Perhaps someday I'll see
for no one's less significant
than microscopic me

but how can one so miniscule
have any type of need
that doesn't merit ridicule
by bruisers of our breed

it all depends upon the sphere
in which we operate
if we'll have a ball while here
or share a noble fate.

Revision

If the subject's filled with rage
will the sentence still be served
when the structure is a cage
for a period observed
as one modifies the page?

Roadblock

I always go the old way
despite the shorter route
that progress may establish
and then I curse about

the younger ones that pass me
because they're quick enough
to grasp when something's better
unlike this aging duff.

Dip

I'm a miserable drunk
that's why I don't drink
I can be a skunk
but don't like to stink
I've recently sunk
then swam to the brink
just jettisoned junk
that was making me sink
and now I must dunk
my pen in more ink.
