Recon

Today I was greeted by dread
Some buzzards were buzzing my head
So I clutched my wrist
And felt my pulse insist
That no, I wasn’t quite dead

Then I tuned in to the beat
Of wings as I strolled down the street
And watched the grim gyre
Go swirling much higher
Until it is our time to meet.

My favorite so far. I love the sounds and rhythms of the second stanza.
