I realized (to my dismay)
how fast the world can turn today
now there’s nothing left to do
salvation slips away.
Before I really even knew
I witnessed, as the light withdrew,
the shadowy descent that means
a darkness will ensue,
for as our spinning ark careens
apparently it also leans
enough that its perspective jars
the season’s shifting scenes
and while the lack of sunshine bars
a tan, at least we’re graced by Mars—
the benefit when night holds sway
admission to the stars.

admission to the stars is a terrific kicker. the last two graphs really brought it home. you held the world between your fingertips with this.
Bob,
A most wonderful piece of star gazing and planetary observation.
Another skilfully composed poem, which gives food for thought as well!!
Best Wishes,
Eileen
This is wonderful. One thing about light though is that it always returns; but yes, the world does seem to turn faster and faster. Here is mine:

I love the thought view of admission to the stars and that is just what you did~! Amazing :D
I loved this stanza:
"or as our spinning ark careens
apparently it also leans
enough that its perspective jars
the season’s shifting scenes"
Great imagery and observed thought!
I like the rhyming poem...the world can certainly slip quickly and at night we can behold its beauty like falling stars ~
