Fervent

The half-dressed trees look haggard
like they just went through a fight,
were beaten up then staggered
to huddle here in fright
reluctant to release the leaves
a wooden spirit sorely grieves—

their lanky limbs defiant
they shudder from each blow
refuse to be compliant
despite the coming snow
and wobble, but will not be tamed
as ruddy features grow enflamed.

Bob,

I see the same view from my window too. Trees looking tired and sad with the approach of winter and the loss of all leafy dignity.

Best Regards,
Eileen

Hi all, thanks a lot for commenting. Our trees are truly quite beat up from wind and rain, poor things!

Isabel - yes I would like to link it.

Carrie - Thanks I will check it later as I'm on my phone right now, you are too kind.

Hey Bob, nice graphic description, and the trees in my garden definitely resemble the ones in your poem :) I love poems revolving around all aspects of nature. Keep up the great work and thanks for checking out my blog, it was much appreciated. I'll be back :)
