Prompted

They praise the theme of the ramrod’s speech
not the truth of his words,
while ‘acceptable losses’ are hitting the beach
debarking from camouflaged birds;
if only their wars could be fought with just words
imagine the things it could teach,
but they simply see it as culling the herds,
then purposefully pose and beseech.

What a cleaver structure, Bob! After reading the poem, something made me relook at your rhyme scheme. That discovered couplet in the middle almost works as a form of caesura. That was very cleaver and rather effective! Great stuff Bob and with an important theme!
