Charming

Words can't patch a hole
but they can fill your soul,
they'll never feed the poor
but they can stop a war,
they can't replenish earth
but they can state your worth
(though all that you might be
is shown nonverbally)
they'll never cure the flu
but they can heal me and you
by leaving us beguiled
like the love of an innocent child.

right on - these are all too rare values

words can do so much, when we realise that perhaps we'll start valuing their use more

I love this poem! Yes, the power of words-they give us hope, inspire and delight us~ Your poem did that for me :D

Happy New Year!

YES!
The power of words is remarkable and unlimited in certain situations.

Bob,

Your words reach out and touch upon the basic values which have left most of society. The caring and the sharing, has been replaced by careless greed and thoughlessness..

Best Wishes Bob, you have a sense of caring and great humanity, evident in all your writing...

I especially love that who we are is demonstrated non-verbally:)

Thanks everyone, it was Ella's words as much as the theme itself that inspired this, here's to a creative new year!
