Some blackbirds buzz a crafty crow
that tried to raid their lair
who scorns them as it turns to go
and ride the churning air--
a pair of yellow butterflies
are dancing cross the road
their bright ballet a sweet reprise
of spring's expectant mode--
an old man harbors many fish
where some have yet to bite
but bait won't tackle every wish
when bobbers drop from sight--
the hollow clangs of longing ring
and slowly start to creep
from rail to soul as crickets sing
a yearning mind to sleep.

Life is like that ~ I specially like the third stanza, a great capture of reality ~

Through little strife
You surely captured life
Beautifully described..What is life...Enjoyed reading your poem :)
man - oyu just crank out lyrics! I can hear the music.
Lovely, and my favorite is the final stanza...."the hollow clangs of longing ring".......lovely rhythm and rhyme.
Excellent. So mnay thought-provoking metaphors for life.
but bait won't tackle every wish

Being fairly new to you
Your works that is;
I've found a truth there too
Which may be a compliment of HIS.
The things you say with such lovely
Expression,
So beautiful to read...
It might be fleeting as
In our minds
we picture what you see,
Creation from our Father
Is there eternally...

so nice!
Thanks a lot everyone, I just opened my eyes when I was outside for a couple of days and this is what I saw.
Bob,
I liked this in a very prayerful way. A thought before bedtime....Very pleasing and placid.

In addition to the message and metaphors, you've done a great job with rhyme and meter. Nice.

What a great slice of life filled with metaphor for me. Love the cadence and everything about this.
