A somber summer day?
Beware of such a thing
when angry clouds turn gray
and heaven’s teardrops sting.
The host will cry for having seen
a somber summer day
our planet is alive and green
unlike the ashen clay
condemned to never feel a ray
of golden sun again.
A somber summer day
is a dark occasion when
we face the cold abyss
and feverishly pray
that all six souls are granted bliss
this somber summer day.

RCH,
You have captured the reality of a very sad situation, which even takes place on the most beautiful of summer days.
I understand the sentiment expressed, now that I have also read the background to your thoughts.

Hi Eileen, thanks. My Mom died in a house fire less than 2 years ago and it was devastating, I can't imagine it times six, and all children too, how unbelievably tragic.
An incredibly strong piece, thank you for the link to the story, we can only be glad that there is something better for us. I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Its good to see you can write about it and similar events hopefully as a release. Thank you for sharing.
Robert,
with reference to my earlier comment posted, I am very sorry to learn just how much you are personally connected to a fire tragedy.
A very brave piece of writing to undertake, given your circumstances.
Eileen
Hey Rob, thanks a lot!
Hi Eileen, it's the raw emotion that turns to contemplative creativity if we're lucky. Thanks.
bye
