As we lay them down to sleep
I pray the Lord their souls will keep
and still I weep
behind my eyes the teardrops steep
then down my face they slowly creep
and still I weep
there's so much in this life to reap
forsaken for the cruel and cheap
and still I weep
and now we lay them down to sleep
beyond that rift so dark and deep
and still I weep

As do we all. :( Merry Christmas, my friend.
While I here weep
their souls He'll keep -
no longer a rift
gentle hands will lift
His promise He'll keep
it's for us I now weep
I hope you don't mind...
I loved your poem and I loved that it gave me finally some words I could use in my own head to articulate the sadness for a loss here. Just knowing that the children are fine helps somewhat in this earthly tragedy. We, however, are not fine.
Hi Shirley, same to you!
Hey Donna, no prob, love your poem too.
Sorry for being so morose my friends, my mind is truly like a sponge and soaking up all this sorrow results in some emotional output.
