Flood Watch

The grief will come in violent waves
as we succumb to fellow slaves;
Subalterns serving that which craves
to flood the earth with swollen graves—
we’ll soon forget how dry ground feels
the deluge roaring at our heels,
if blessed with refuge throw a line
and reach beyond the grim design.

* Authors Note: This was penned after the horrific Christmas tsunami. We were told to evacuate last night because the good old Mohawk River was getting surly (we didn't). I keep hearing about global warming and the ice caps melting... I only hope this isn't as prophetic as it is currently (no pun intended) seeming to be. And if anyone out there is likewise afflicted, my heart goes out to you.

I'm throwing you a line. Here's your link. So far, I still have a bridge so I think you got it worse this time than we did. Stay safe!

Hey thanks oz, I think as long as it doesn't rain too much more we'll be OK, take care yourself.

Hey thanks a lot Shirl, I was in a rush. The park we played at saturday is completely underwater, the daffodils have drowned. :-( You too!!

You're welcome. Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers... you can't kill them. They'll be back. One of the first things I remember writing was...

If I should die please plant for me
A million daffodils to see
In spring, when they come through the ground
You'll know that I am still around.

I'd forgotten that catchy little tune til now.

Funny, we were both at the carnival and didn't run into each other! You must've been underwater whilst I was painting faces? :) Shirl
