Let my words caress you
like a lover on the sheet
each syllable undress you
transparently entreat
perhaps they will impress you
with a need to be complete
then passion may possess you
like the scathing summer heat.

Indelible
Classy words don’t work overtime
but the sweaty images they spawn can—
with dirty determined digits
they manipulate
the convoluted gray
into something concrete
that, when constructed properly,
will last and last
until the light goes away.

Fortification
I've sighed so many times today
my glasses have gone fogged
from all the extra moisture in the air
while struggling to pull away
from the funk in which I'm bogged
but it seems that I've got apathy to spare
I don't know why I'm so inclined
the sun is getting warm
inspiring impatient Spring to start
but somewhere in my mixed-up mind
these dreadful demons swarm
with aims at taking down my battered heart
resistance to this fierce attack
requires some defense
a firm resolve to fight and never flee
I've learned to beat the bastards back
they flinch at my intense
committment that my dreams will come to be.

Exhausted
The taxers take
what workers make
without a hint of any break
except the crack
along the back
of everyone that doesn't slack
but wonders why
they must comply
until the till is pilfered dry.

Jilted to the Hilt
What hurts worse: cold steel meant to rend
or the icier shock of a back stabbing friend
an enabling love that's forsaken your greed
or watching them lavish another one's need?
it isn't always a thirsty blade
that cuts a heart in two
at times the deepest wounds are made
by those we thought were true.

Buckling
Subdue your appetites, my dears, and you've conquered human nature - Charles Dickens
A glutton comes to know
how quickly greed can pinch--
avoiding overflow
is easy as a cinch.

Unrequited
The moon is like a distant love we try
to forget that always seems to reappear
with radiance that dominates the sky,
the moon, so like a distant love. We try
but find we can never deny
the pull of this majestic silver sphere,
the moon is like a distant love we try
to forget, yet always seems to reappear.

Clearing
Behold the shade
and every blade
of swaying grass upon the glade
where wood and stone
though once alone
have eked a tiny spot their own
a pleasant plot
that daisies dot
one petal shy of ’loves me not’
their sweet reprieve
from those that grieve
and fail to ever once believe.

Continuation
Hi! Well it seems I've been tagged by Michael Murray over at Whatever Floats Your Canoe to do a little survey type chain thing. I normally shy away from such trivialities (mainly due to time constraints) but have had a bit more time to network lately so thought I'd play along. Michael and I crossed paths through the A-Z challenge and I encourage you to check out his blog which is now in my link list to the right.
Now on to the post:
The Rules Are:
1. You must post the rules.
2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
4. Tag eleven bloggers, however, you can break the rules and tag fewer people if you want. Make suer you hyperlink their names/blogs.
5. Let them know you've tagged them!
6. Have fun!
Eleven fun facts about me:
1-Love to cook/bake.
2-Able to recite all 50 states in alphabetical order.
3-Love the feel of cool/cold things between my fingers.
4-Love the TV show Ancient Aliens.
5-Hate cottage cheese.
6-Love riding my bicycle.
7-Been at the same crappy job 25 years in October.
8-Hate Politicians.
9-Have written about 50 songs (none published).
10-Enjoy drawing, never have time to do it.
11-Love the word flibbertigibbet.
1-My superpower of choice would be interdimensional teleportation, imagine the things you'd see.
2-If I am what I eat then I am poetry.
3-My favorite boardgame is one called Rail Baron because we used to play it growing up before life started to suck.
4-Yes I have been scared occasionally, one time that stands out was when I was walking home one night around midnight on an old country road on a moonless night. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face and every sound set my teeth on edge.
5-Favorite day of the week - Monday (the only day my diner is closed even though I still have to go to my day job)
6-Favorite movie - The Matrix, I just love the premise and the effects, mindblowing.
7-Guiness record I would like - most award winning book of poetry ever written.
8-Yes I do believe in God.
9-Don't know enough about Assange to say but there are people a lot worse than him running amok.
10-If I could go back in time I'd save my mother from the house fire that took her life
11-Yes I like peaches.
And now my 11 questions:
1-What is one of your favorite words?
2-Why did you start your blog?
3-Do you believe in Alien life?
4-Have you ever accomplished something amazing that no one knows about?
5-What poetic technique do you revel in?
6-Know any good jokes?
7-Have you ever read a comic book?
8-Do you believe there's hope for humanity?
9-If you could abolish either religion or violence which would you choose and why?
10-What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
11-Would you rather be famous or infamous?
and the few bloggers I've picked to pass this on to are:
Shirley at Whispers in the Wind
Dimps at Poems My Creation
Eileen at Words and Thoughts
Carrie at Hope Whispers
Have fun!!

Absolutely Nothing
There’s no clever metaphor for war
it’s pain and death and endless gore
and those that seem to thirst for more
just make me say — whatever for?

Unwind
If you delete what I said
you don't care what I say
so trifle instead
with those that relay
the comments you deem okay
we all have the right
to write what we choose
and also to blight
dissimilar views
or loosen the screws.

Elective
To rise when I desire
is all that I request
I've walked through the fire
and now I long to rest
the bottom of my feet are charred
the skin completely black
my tattered flesh so deeply scarred
they're threatening to hack
away the only leg
contributing support
which means that I must either beg
or eagerly extort
the means I need to make it through
this fierce short-order life
while doing what I choose to do
to circumvent the knife.

Burnt Offerings
You used to love to smoke a roach
now you feel above reproach
like heaven's just for you and the rest of us encroach
well your hangups are your own
but the arrogance you've shown
is something that I'm certain Jesus never would condone.

Arise
Everyday we play
the pointless game of shame
we like to sneak (so weak)
or just ignore, what for?
Let's vow to live, forgive
we've got to try not lie
for life's a treat that's sweet
every morn reborn.

Accessory
Your halo's showing signs of wear
with little smudges here and there
perhaps you should retract the horns
that tarnished token now adorns.
