for a fee we accept the decree
that the rich hold the reins and the switch
while we trot for the nothing we’ve got.

I'm in quite the quandry. I finaly had arrived to the point that this place sickened me enough to not put up with any more and find a differant place to slave away and the f*&%ers had to go and give me a substantial raise so I can't match it anywhere else

it's that damn fee!! (though I can't say I'd turn it down if they actually offered it to me.) Congrats!

Iloved the rhyme scheme. It was particularly effective in the last line, giving it seemingly the same force as a couplet at the end of a formal sonnet.
