Shaky Ground

Subduction pulls the surface down
undoing a facade,
appearances can quickly drown
beneath the road we’ve trod
when battered by the grim assault
of dwelling on an active fault.

Not a native, but I do consider Los Angeles and San Diego home.

Don't know if this is what you were referring to, but the use of "surface" and "appearances" and subducting (so similar sounding to seduction), makes it very becoming of L.A.
