A falcon shared his lofty station with a crow
Above the landscape blanketed with snow
And squawked about the lack of decent prey,
The crow just cocked his head now go away
He thought while searching for some scraps
The wintry wind would blow his way perhaps
But both endured a barren lapse,
Their hunger, for the nonce, kept under wing
Determined to survive until the spring.

Trustworthy
Ecclesiastes 3
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
I shan’t be concerned
With whose lies are gold
Nor who is or isn’t a thief
I painfully learned
To never be sold
Relying on one staunch belief
That there is a God
And only His will
Determines the fate of this land
So I simply nod
Crestfallen, but still
Accepting whatever He’s planned.

American Soil
Sovereign sod
Pretenders prod
Uncertain sheep,
Deception deep!
Dogmatic duel
Repulsive rule
Compliance cost?
Liberty lost.

Like That
Please don’t post on my page
I reject those living with lies
Go peddle your misconstrued rage
On those who believe you are wise.

On the Hoof
If I shout WAKE UP will any creature heed
Or are my protestations just a bleat
Ignored by fellow ovine as they feed?
The lies they gobble down must seem so sweet.
Domesticated chattel seldom fuss
As long as they are herded to believe
That safety is the goal for ‘all of us’
Their sacrificial fate, they can’t conceive
As being real, for those they think they choose
To lead, would never wish them harm,
Proclaiming on the nonsense news
“I love you!”, oozing endless charm
While readying the trains that will arrive
To take the chosen assets to the block--
Those who trade their freedom to survive
Will never hear the ticking of the clock.

Dawning
Some crows fly by the morning star
And then eclipse the moon
Redemption seems so very far
But could be here quite soon
Orion towers, arrow nocked
And eyes them flying low
Yet never shoots, though I’m not shocked
For no one savors crow.
Celestial omens seldom lie
If pupils are alert
But filtered through the mortal eye
Discernment is inert.

Gaslight
Some are yellow, some are white
Others blue, or ‘not-so-bright’
Designed to penetrate the night
When darkness handicaps our sight
But do we ever see what’s true?
(The lack of light should be a clue)
Yet, we do what we’re told to do
By those who live to lie anew.

Lunacy
This ghostly face leapt out at me
A specter in an aqua sea
But I contained the urge to flee,
For once our sun proclaims ‘Good night’
That spook will steal some precious light
Displaying quite a haunting sight
A supernatural type of glow
That makes the shadows long and low
I breathlessly await the show.

Meteoric
I watched the sky get slashed last night
as though some unseen sword
in a cunning onslaught scored
the flesh of heaven in an epic fight
and golden ichor poured
across it’s flank, from west to east
above the battlefield,
and in it’s stead I reeled
(though it wasn’t bothered in the least)
Then, in a FLASH, it healed.

Dispersal
The bees are busy gathering what pollen they can glean
From faded, blossom bearing weeds that yesterday were green
But news received this morning of a dying childhood friend
Reminds me just how rapidly this wondrous life can end
And there beside the brush a milkweed vomits fluffy seeds
That disappear upon the wind much like our earthly deeds.

Campaign
Maroon and gold
Have taken hold
Of the hill with green retreating
The weathered ranks
And withered flanks
Have suffered quite a beating
And soon the chill
Will start to kill
The conquered and the clover
Till limbs stripped bare
Beseech the air
To start the cycle over.

Dark Side
Luna, the Luminous Queen
Seems to be caught in between
Grim Saturn and proud Jupiter
And both are attracted to her.
The rest of the stars gather round
And wager to which she’ll be bound
But she saunters by, still alone
You can’t move a heart made of stone.

Woefully
Just because you don’t believe
Doesn’t mean it isn’t so
It simply means you’re ignorant
And have no wish to know
But your denial isn’t helping
Those of us that seek
A better world without
The exploitation of the meek.

Not Buying It
Discounting despair
Abused by the blare
Of propaganda designed to produce a good scare
I checkout nonplussed
My yap firmly trussed
A patronized patron stocked up on disgust.

Discernment
So many different shades of green
Routinely seem to go unseen
By those who see a single hue
I know I don’t, do you?
And yes, sometimes the sky can be
A breadth of blues if you ask me
Though many see a monotone--
I guess they’re blind to some degree.
Beyond the realm of mortal spheres
Are mysteries that still defy
Our probes; well here’s to hoping I
Perceive the truth when it appears.
