Panorama

I love stargazing on a winter night
When the air is cold and the stars are bright
The cosmic scenery so amazing
On a winter night I love stargazing

Beneath the covers it’s nice and warm
Despite this never ending storm
As turbulent as tragic lovers,
It’s nice and warm beneath the covers.

The gift of sight is our reward
With reverence looking heavenward.
Is our reward the gift of sight?
I love stargazing on a winter night.

Transparency

All your affectation means so little
Yeah, glass is hard as hell, but also brittle
So next time you decide to act this tough
Remember, I can see right through your bluff.

Censure

How many signs should they erect
How much direction do you expect
Be cognizant of who they are
It’s not who you elect

Remember that the word campaign
Refers to war that’s waged to gain
The upper hand when classes spar
Their weapons, cold disdain

And lies deployed to legislate
Lethargic sheep to stay sedate.
Despite the likely scar
We must retaliate!

Whet Dream

These simple schemes
Belie my dreams
Of crafting something heretofore unknown

I have the will
But doubt my skill
So I shall humbly try my best to hone.

Tenfold

You always make my smile grow
Even when I’m stressed by strife
And it seems kind of weird
That a decade disappeared
But I just want you to know
How much you have enriched my life.

Believe it or Not

When men choose not to believe in God,
they do not thereafter believe in nothing,
they then become capable of believing in anything.

G.K. Chesterton

The glowing box of falsehood with a click
Confirms the fears of those who buy the shtick
By channeling more evil than they show
Contaminating everything we know

If only everyone would stop and think
Why they tell us ‘binge without a blink’
Perhaps we’d seek a different truth instead
Like He who saved us through the blood He shed.

Running of the Bull

I find myself feeling a yen
To let the words run once again
Something forcefully held
Can only be quelled
So long before the old pen

Becomes a circular rut
Just open the gate if it’s shut
They long to be freed
And loudly stampede
Across the plains that abut

The woods that encircle a pond
Caressing each flower and frond
With ringlets of rhyme
To echo through time
And all of creation beyond.

Unruly

They’ve polarized the simpletons
With lies so deftly spun
That one side thinks the other lost
While theirs has somehow won

Dependency upon deceit
Creating addicts who
Become defunct unless the anchors
Tell them what to do

But grounds we share will never be
Accessible again
If we don’t heed the Golden Rule
And not the tales of men.

Broadening

Watching icicles grow
Is really quite a show
The drips that never drop
Just hit bottom and stop
And for a beat dissect
The sunlight to reflect
Prismatic hearts so bold
You almost forget the cold

Precognition

A prison you can flee
Isn’t always plain to see
But I could feel the stifling restraint
The crony in her cage
At last released my rage
Pretending to be some unbiased saint

I cursed, she went deadpan
It echoed in her can
And footsteps started scurrying my way
I bolted out the door
Defiance streaming from each pore
Then woke up to begin another day.

Augment

Time goes round
We are bound
By the cycle it seems
And forlorn dreams
We’ll never nab
Our lives so drab

Each tick we see
Eternity
Adroitly dance
Another chance
(though relative)
To truly live.

Schooled

I watch him struggle to deal
With the fact that pain is real
And all the inadequacy I feel

Comes bubbling to the fore
Until those droplets pour
From my own eyes once more

For I can clearly see
Not learning to leave things be
Could make one a failure, like me.

Disbanded

The tattered soldiers try to muster
While battered by the brutal bluster
They’re scattered out of every cluster
Once shattered, lust can lose its luster.

Staple

You’ll never feel more hunger
Than when your cupboard’s bare
Or ever be more thirsty
Than when the well is dry
But never get discouraged
When dealing with despair
For faith is all you really need
In order to get by.

Against It

They charge us a fee to exist
The taxes too many to list
We struggle, forever assessed
Instead of just happily blessed
And grovel while they get the grist

But feed us a modified strain
With hope that defiance will wane
Though hunger can work for the carved
The desperate get deadly when starved
It’s not looking good for the grain.
