Ghost Busting

Not every specter merits a good scream
At times they’re only there to foster rue
In those that had to put aside their dream
For duty's sake (that’s what the loyal do)
But still it can be jarring to behold
That shambling shade whenever it appears
Its fetid breath unsettling and cold
Reminding them of fallow, wasted years.
The rattling of chains, that old cliché
Is much more accurate than many know
For most have grown accustomed to a yoke
Refuse to let such fiends have their own way
Tell them, “Take your corroded links and go!”
Then watch as *POOF* they simply turn to smoke.

Standing in my kitchen in the dark
I wonder if I’ve left a lasting mark
Besides the one I currently fulfill:
The dude that certain people want to kill.

Scary

The gangland ghouls
Don’t follow rules
They haunt the streets in search of fools
Who buy the hype
That there’s no gripe
And have so many things to swipe.

Jacked

The pumpkin punk
Was rude and stunk
Like garbage from a rotten can
With a spray orange tan

He claimed he knew

That swore by every lie

Crumbling

The impermanence of life
Was like a knife
That whittled on my sapling soul

To seeing the truth of absurdities they
Present as facts in their straight-faced way
Deceptions are never fun to perceive
But it’s better than being made naïve.

I wanted to stop and stare at the sky
Where giant pink cumulus gather to die

I feel myself beginning to descend
Into realms where madmen fear to wend,
As layers of reality grow thin
The more the ancient gears will spin

And there’s no ground that doesn’t shake

Temporal eddies reverse their flow

Coverage

The recruits marched across the country it seems
Sunlight on their armor menacingly gleams
Promising that they can supply the power required
To dictate to the rural folks that maybe aren’t so wired.

Abscond

Autumnal winds proceed
To aid the flight of the freed
That wind up on the street
Ignored by the elite
Who sneer in snobbish lilt
That’s why gutters were built
If given a chance to run
Escape the ‘civilized’ ones.

There are rats in our house

The vibrant robes
Sport ruby globes
As sunlight through the spaces strobes
Like flashes of remembrance in my mind

That verse I penned
Made me a friend
Until they let the bastards rend

As turning leaves
Ride gusty heaves
A chilly brooding poet grieves
When warmer sun once shined.

Watch Uranus

Saturn in Aquarius
Could become nefarious
But hopefully it’s just a brand new start

Where stars and planets congregate
Omens tend to indicate
That fortune may create a stellar chart.
