If I shout WAKE UP will any creature heed
Or are my protestations just a bleat
Ignored by fellow ovine as they feed?
The lies they gobble down must seem so sweet.
Domesticated chattel seldom fuss
As long as they are herded to believe
That safety is the goal for ‘all of us’
Their sacrificial fate, they can’t conceive
As being real, for those they think they choose
To lead, would never wish them harm,
Proclaiming on the nonsense news
“I love you!”, oozing endless charm
While readying the trains that will arrive
To take the chosen assets to the block--
Those who trade their freedom to survive
Will never hear the ticking of the clock.
