Tour de Force
They tried their best to make us bleed
And beg for what we think we need
But sovereign souls need not be freed
It’s time to make the show proceed.
Our first gig in over a year, keep rockin'!

TMI?
A traffic surge?
It’s time to splurge
And satisfy this nagging urge
To get obscene
And vent my spleen
Against the merciless machine
So don’t be scared
But be prepared
It could get messy once I’ve shared.

Against the merciless machine
So don’t be scared

Deprogram
How awake can you be?
Repudiate granules and see,
Allow your perception to cleave
Through layers they use to deceive;
The best way to get your mind free—
Forget all the lies you believe.

Ablaze
Our satellite was ochre
As it seared the eastern sky
Just like a red hot poker
Going straight into your eye
Attaining its gradation
As a harbinger of hell
From the smoky conflagration
The west had failed to quell
Determined not to languish
In the labyrinth of my mind
I disavowed all anguish
When I left my yoke behind
And sought a new direction
In the confines of a car
While gazing with conviction
At a brilliant shooting star.

Determined not to languish

Rouser
I don’t know how often I can state
Our future is a feudal fate,
My words have mentioned many times
In antiquated forms and rhymes
How fascist fools will take away
Our freedom and the right to pray
Unless, of course, we bow to them
And their oppressive stratagem.
The problem is so many turn
Their heads and just refuse to learn
That everything we see and hear
Is manufactured to appear
Informative, but it’s all lies
Designed to slowly compromise
Our logic and our sense of worth
So evil can remake the earth.
I’m just one man but I refuse
To be controlled or ever lose
My mind because some cable clown
Insists that I must fret and frown—
Remember, if we acquiesce
We’ll only expedite the mess
For when their plans make our lives hell
We’re obligated to rebel.

Dedication
A quarter of a century
A blink, but so much more, you see
When two hearts merge and life unfolds
Regardless what the future holds
It will be met with endless love
As we are taught by God above.
Happy Anniversary!

Treatment
A gulp, a wince
The pills are downed
And soon you’ll be impaled
For ever since
That mass was found
Your options have curtailed—
We never know
What ills await
Our fragile human forms
So always show
Your love, not hate
We must amend our norms.

Toady News Network
She bobs her vapid head
A twinkle in her eye
Aware that everything she said
Is just another lie
Her conscience is restrained
By total lack of shame
For all the fear she’s feigned
To cling to local fame
The story isn’t new
A tale as old as time
There’s always flunkies who
Enable higher crime.

Recon
Today I was greeted by dread
Some buzzards were buzzing my head
So I clutched my wrist
And felt my pulse insist
That no, I wasn’t quite dead
Then I tuned in to the beat
Of wings as I strolled down the street
And watched the grim gyre
Go swirling much higher
Until it is our time to meet.

Revolutionaries
Magenta misty streamers
Decorate the western sky
A morbid celebration
Of a day that had to die
But all the hopeless dreamers
See more wishes flashing by
Aware that one rotation
Brings another chance to try.

Check Out
The cold tile floor
And loudly creaking door
Of the sterile institution
I wholeheartedly abhor
Reminds me of the year
I wrestled with the fear
Of facing retribution
When I’m discharged from here.

Licked
There once was a contrary mutt
Like an ovophobe hungry for quiche
Who had a most haphazard strut
An aggressive assault on the leash
He’d bite you in moments of play
And growl if you gave him a hug
He caused every blanket to fray
By chewing (while hoping you’d tug)
His tongue was incredibly large
And covered your face in one swipe
Then right through the kitchen he’d charge
As you sought a napkin to wipe
His fuzzy black fur was a mess
Denying the groomer’s best try
But thinking of him I confess
To releasing a love-laden sigh.

Concoction
They send you to classes to learn
How poison can help you return
To a living without any growth
When facing such options we tend
To hope and despair as we mend
For life is a mixture of both.

Out!
When the batter hits a foul
And all around you scatter
Start searching for a towel
As you learn why helmets matter.

Unacceptable
They’ll surely want to reeducate me
To beg for inclusivity
But I’m not one to forfeit my
Conclusions for a blatant lie
I simply wish to coexist
With everyone, but they insist
On telling me how I must live
Too bad I have no f***s to give.
