A two-edged sword is perilous
If you don’t have the arm
To wield and not be dangerous
To those you mustn’t harm

While those that have a rigid sole
Despite what they prefer
Will sometimes walk with less control
Unsure when bumps occur

A tale without some twists and turns
Can sometimes entertain
But a true experience seeker yearns
For a plot they can’t explain.

Kiss of Spring

The blades are cut
That frozen rut
Is finally behind us
Fresh leaves expand
Across the land
And breezily remind us
It’s time to bloom
And shed the gloom
Our tulips red and vibrant.

Your heart filled with love
If you wish to be ready

The terms of agreement
(like heaven above)
Require commitment.

Requiem

Beside the sanguine flicker
Of a filament designed
To look just like a candle
A mourning friend will find

The vessel of somebody
They were fortunate to know
As impotent as anyone
Whose time has come to go

Between the floral tributes
And a hope inducing hymn
We pray to God in heaven
That mercy is His whim.

Flurry

I sat there thinking life unfair
As gentle snow fell down
While she was at the precipice of death
Then suddenly I could swear
I saw her in her gown
A spirit who had gasped her final breath

I wondered if she knew the way
Across the yawning chasm
That I imagine separates the planes
She disappeared into the gray
A newly formed phantasm
While I conferred respect to her remains.

Settlement

Roots are fine
For those that grow them and their line
But those who drift
Will never feel that subtle shift
In the earth
From staking out a lasting berth
And so it goes
Everyone dwells on their own woes.

Denouement

When seeking pleasure
We seldom measure
How much of our soul is lost

If it satisfies
We live with lies
Regardless of the cost

Until we seek
That shining peak
But find a killer frost.

Platform

What if we ever actually received
A signal, then sought the senders to find
Their heartless tech was ill conceived
And doomed them, much like humankind;
Would nihilists still be so staunch
To justify another launch?

Throwback

“There’s a lot going on in the world.”
He quipped as he cattishly curled
Upon the couch and unfurled

A booklet of archaic prose
His weary mind purposely chose
It’s content a pleasant repose

When modern day madmen have mauled
The truth so much progress is stalled
A simpler time is recalled

With hope that we somehow achieve
A future where we learn to weave
Our dreams with facts all can believe.

Hairy

The street light has bangs
It’s icy hair hangs
It seems overnight that it grew
The late winter snows
Were melted, refroze
Becoming one cool looking do.

Panorama

I love stargazing on a winter night
When the air is cold and the stars are bright
The cosmic scenery so amazing

Beneath the covers it’s nice and warm
Despite this never ending storm
As turbulent as tragic lovers,
It’s nice and warm beneath the covers.

The gift of sight is our reward
With reverence looking heavenward.

All your affectation means so little
Yeah, glass is hard as hell, but also brittle

How many signs should they erect
How much direction do you expect
Be cognizant of who they are
It’s not who you elect

Remember that the word campaign
Refers to war that’s waged to gain
The upper hand when classes spar
Their weapons, cold disdain

And lies deployed to legislate
Lethargic sheep to stay sedate.
Despite the likely scar
We must retaliate!

Whet Dream

These simple schemes
Belie my dreams
Of crafting something heretofore unknown

I have the will
But doubt my skill
So I shall humbly try my best to hone.

You always make my smile grow
Even when I’m stressed by strife
And it seems kind of weird
That a decade disappeared
