I'm slowly sinking down
To depths I’ve never known
And fear that I may drown
Less-than-buoyant, alone.
But how can one convey
I'm slowly sinking down
For most will simply shrug and say,
“Hey things will turn around,
so there’s no need to frown!”
They won’t see how far you’ve sunk,
“You’re slowly sinking down?
C’mon let’s go get drunk!”
But I of course refuse
A night out on the town,
Detachment has its dues,
I'm slowly sinking down.
