It leaned to the right
To avoid the plight
Of being overshadowed by our flight

Its arc of light
So clear and bright
Is vivid in the endless night.

From the bramble to the birch
To the son compelled to search
Curiosity guaranteed
When spawned from vagrant seed
The deeper tendrils go
The faster one will grow
To propagate the tree
With more stability.

It sure does make me jolly
Laughing at my own folly
For no one gets the punchline more than me
And I refuse to bicker
When it’s much more fun to snicker
What a wondrous joy it is to be.

So many things to do
So little follow through
Of all the dreams he knew
None were coming true

It takes a lot of drive

Falling Out

Every hue in one tiny leaf
The portrait of a life so brief
With urgency in every vein
Once shedding from the maple's mane
But I won’t give our mother grief
Her sun grown distant once again.

Eye in the Sky

Starlink, it just sounds so cool
And really futuristic
But is it something meant to fool
Those less realistic?

Anything encircling earth
Just seems so voyeuristic
And everything we do from birth
A sterilized statistic.

Dialect

They keep saying ‘God wins’
Which I truly believe
But His adversary spins
Endless lies to deceive—
With this in mind, are you really sure
Those itching to lead are pure?

Restraint

It takes more strength to hold back
Than it does to attack
Just ask He who felt every smack

As the spikes were making a mess
Of His flesh so He could bless
The throng that couldn’t care less.

Caper

When you dream of life outside your cage
And meet someone who’s free you wage
A war within yourself to see
If you should plan a break and flee

But if you must maintain the front
Remember not to be too blunt
You’ll never find the peace you seek
Unless you turn the other cheek

So choose your battles well and let
Those compelled to dodge the net
Explore indulgent whims as you
Have your routine to motion through.

In lieu of different schemes
I funnel inky streams
Into simple forms
Or so it seems

I try my best to make
Structures that will shake
Accepted norms—
Well, that’s my take.

Once a queen is gone
The king becomes a pawn
Until the tarnished crown
Will, at last, fall down
With one conclusion drawn:
Death denies renown.

How can one transform contempt
To adoration that’s exempt
From paltry spurts of petty spite
Ignoring childish goads to fight?

Allow your heart to always be
As open as the sky and see
The metamorphosis occur
As new compassion starts to stir.
