Campaign

Maroon and gold
Have taken hold
Of the hill with green retreating

The weathered ranks
And withered flanks
Have suffered quite a beating

And soon the chill
Will start to kill
The conquered and the clover

Till limbs stripped bare
Beseech the air
To start the cycle over.

Dark Side

Luna, the Luminous Queen
Seems to be caught in between
Grim Saturn and proud Jupiter
And both are attracted to her.

The rest of the stars gather round
And wager to which she’ll be bound
But she saunters by, still alone
You can’t move a heart made of stone.

Woefully

Just because you don’t believe
Doesn’t mean it isn’t so
It simply means you’re ignorant
And have no wish to know
But your denial isn’t helping
Those of us that seek
A better world without
The exploitation of the meek.

Not Buying It

Discounting despair
Abused by the blare
Of propaganda designed to produce a good scare
I checkout nonplussed
My yap firmly trussed
A patronized patron stocked up on disgust.

Discernment

So many different shades of green
Routinely seem to go unseen
By those who see a single hue
I know I don’t, do you?

And yes, sometimes the sky can be
A breadth of blues if you ask me
Though many see a monotone--
I guess they’re blind to some degree.

Beyond the realm of mortal spheres
Are mysteries that still defy
Our probes; well here’s to hoping I
Perceive the truth when it appears.

Empath Epitaph

He cared so much it hurt him
In ways he didn’t know
His friends would all desert him
Their loyalty a show

He sought a life of solitude
When possible you see
For he was often misconstrued
Which led to misery

He lived his days in agony
Absorbing other’s rue
Until the final tragedy
A heart that broke in two

So if you are a passersby
Of this worn down stone
And feel the urge to heal, then try
Or die unloved, alone.

The Order

I’ll probably be cancelled as the cleansing ensues
And I doubt there are many upset with the news
All I’ve ever pushed for is freedom of thought
But they only want those who are easily bought

If my words disappear don’t believe it was me
I left them right here for the future to see
It was those who feel they are ordained to control
Your every last move until dropped in your hole.

Shut Down

Again we’ve been fooled
Irresponsibly ruled
Completely coerced
To respect the reversed
And illogical lines
The symbols and signs
Elitists employ
As they tinker and toy
With the world we perceive
So never believe
The news for you see
They fuel fallacy.

Kind

What kind of monster am I?
indifferent when innocents die
What kind of world have we built?
death on demand free of guilt
What kind of person are you?
destroying because you’re told to
How kind can everyone be?
deny their deception and see

Follow?

We are led by evil to tread the path
Of selfish greed and mindless wrath
When we should seek as guide instead
A shepherd with a heart well fed,

For we must hazard bleak terrain
And intermittent spots of pain
Before our eyes (if blessed to see)
Behold sublime eternity.

This journey surely takes its toll
Be mindful of each fellow soul
For when you help the sick or lame
It feeds redemptions hungry flame.

Truth Bomb

Programmed from birth
To contemplate worth
In terms of ones capacity
To pad another’s girth

Instead, we should
(as any sane person would)
Put value on veracity.
If only the connivers could.

Eleventh

I can’t believe how much you’ve grown
And the resilience you have shown
When life gets tough I know you’ll be just fine

You’re bound to touch a lot of hearts
With your humor and those smarts
And I hope you know how much you helped heal mine.

Show's Over

The summoning box is silent
So I can actually hear my sigh
And not the stream of violent
Vitriol it tends to ply
If only haughty thespians were made
To act as nice as those they have portrayed.

The Art of Giving

Don’t help others begrudgingly
Life is not a quest for glee
It’s more about the deeds you do
That grant another dignity

And if you feel you’ve suffered loss
Or you’ve been forced to toss
Your dreams, remember someone who
Gave much more on the cross.

Touchy

I’ve always wondered why
I was born to be
A slave until I die
Fooled to think I’m free

And even when I lost
A portion of the chains
I realized the cost
Was all my token gains

I struggle to accept
The lies routinely fed
By demons so inept
Integrity is dead

And still I dread the sting
From which I’m never safe
For scars don’t seem to bring
Relief where shackles chafe.
