We watched the sun go down together
And I said, “When I’m gone, I’ll send letters.”
She said, “Don’t bother, for I’ll be gone too
The only thing keeping me here is you.”
I met her when the sun was big and bright
Her beauty made it dim by compare
I knew that it was love at first sight
When she smiled as she twirled her auburn hair
And now it seems to be a lifetime ago
When that dying star started getting low
Yet we denied the signs of worsening weather
And watched the sun go down together.
