Time melts away
or so they say
but how do you keep
remorse at bay?
Try looking past
what holds you fast
and always leap—
surrender last!
In order to see
what has yet to be
succumb to sleep
while holding the key.
***Inspired by a prompt over at Poets United about Salvador Dali***
Bob,
ReplyDeleteI love the thoughts that you wrote about, concerning the Salvador Dali painting The Persistence of Memory....
The thoughts of moving on in time, while allowing dreams to perhaps lead us to more futuristic places.
We can but dream:)
Happy Friday,
Eileen
words to live by :)
ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful....
ReplyDeleteMeditating for being one with you
Oh I like this response to the prompt - especially "succumb to sleep while holding the key." Clever.
ReplyDeleteI love your clever take on the prompt! Well Done...so true~
ReplyDeleteThanks all, I read or saw on TV that Dali would fall asleep sitting with a key in his hand so that when he drifted to sleep and his hand relaxed the sound of the key hitting the floor would waken him with a dream vision of inspiration, so cool, I would love to touch that key.
ReplyDeleteWish I could surrentder to sleep [it is 3 am over here ;-)]
ReplyDeleteloved the key story.
remorse at bay: that would be good.
I could feel the wisdom of your words. Good write my friend.
ReplyDeleteI often fall asleep with the remote in hand....I don't think that's even remotely like this. Seriously though, I liked the story of the key. And the line "Try looking past what holds you fast" - so many times we are paralyzed by things in our past we need to let go of
ReplyDeleteThanks aprille, Andy, and Donna, I've always admired Dali's work and it was fun to write about it.
ReplyDeletewell-penned and a good take on this bit of Dali's work, esp with the advice to fall asleep with a key in hand ... nicely done
