Fixed

I used to be afraid of pain
and quickly shied away
from cases where I stood to gain
if only I could say

“That really didn’t hurt so much.”
But I refused to drop my crutch.

These days, I’m not averse to ache
despite an ailing form—
the sacrifices left to make
won’t scar beyond the norm,

in fact they tend to keep me strong
enough to fiercely limp along.

  1. This reminds of all those moments where you work yourself up so much, and you say "Aww, this is going to suck, this is going to be horrible, how will I ever make it through?"

And then you do make it through, and you come out feeling better and saying "That wasn't so bad after all."

    Good job, sir.

  2. Bob,
You do not know how meaningful your words are for me right now!
I had knee surgery almost a month ago and I am still hobbling around.
I cannot separate the repair from the injury!
Loved your poem very much indeed!
    Best wishes, Eileen

  5. Hi JB, thanks much!

Hi Eileen, I sympathize with you as I have had similar surgery in the past, hope you feel better soon :)

Hi Dimps, how's married life treating you? Hope you are well.

Hey Jan, thanks I found this on a computer that I seldom write upon anymore, not sure why I started it but I knew how to finish it.
