The hoplites hit the field unfazed
despite the shafts and swords that grazed
the dented shields and pitted helms
they donned to dominate all realms.
On blood soaked clay so firmly packed
from lusty legions that attacked
momentum, like a dory hurled,
increased to change the growing world—
the slashing, stabbing, screaming fray
continues on until this day.
