Help

It’s no surprise
what’s on the rise
to flee the lies
they choose demise

with pills or knives
or messy dives
self-pity thrives
on taking lives;

perhaps despair
would never flare
with someone there
to show they care—

if signals shine
that chill your spine
don’t say “You’re fine!”
proffer a line.

  2. The duality of your final line fascinates me. 'line' could have two meanings; a line in the sense of a 'lifeline' or rope... or a line in the sense of a statement or suggestion, as in offering an attractive woman a 'line'. Depending on which the reader chooses, it takes on a unique solution, I think.

    A think-piece, for sure. Thanks...

  4. Sorry for such a bummer on V-day but I heard on the news this AM that suicide is an epidemic, big surprise.

ps-Noah this was partly inspired by your poem 'Floatation Devices'

    very moving, especially:

    perhaps despair
    would never flare
    with someone there
    to show they care—
