How alluring it must be
the wink of gilded infamy,
ensnared by that auspicious clink
of tender and it’s tawdry stink,
discarding truth with every flash
endorsing checks too big to cash.

Sailor Take Warning ⚠️
As puffs of cotton candy cap
a late November sky
the wings of midnight loudly flap
a truth you can’t deny:
oblivion draws nigh.
Although the trees have lost their leaves
much darker shadows loom,
first light recedes and in the eaves
those caustic cackles boom
harsh oracles of doom.

Reverb
Internal pout
infernal doubt
is fighting hard to be let out—
neglected dreams
reflected seems
to echo wasted silent screams.

Blank
The sing-song rimes of a deluded fool
is how these lines will likely be recalled,
if thought about at all; uncouth attempts
like mine are seldom noticed or ingrained.
Insistent chimes compel my pen to dance
and fling around with reckless glee these riffs
bequeathed by ancient bards, who deftly wrought
such arabesque delights. I cherish their
endowment—likewise I must thank my kin
for teaching me to chase the spoor of thought
and logic shrewdly, through contests of skill
designed to build the chords that ring today.
I found a poem playing scrabble but
the dictionary said it wasn’t so.

Fault
Equalization: a false expectation?
Stunted by epochs of social striation
pressure starts building at plate’s deprivation,
tremors should cause those on top trepidation.

Setters
They hop about and loudly whine
like canines waiting for a bell
so anxious to be kept in line
these lapdogs of consumer hell.

Trimmings
Now while my brim is not deluged
I’m certainly not parched
a modest feast was humbly chewed
but elsewhere others marched,
and down in darker places still
where refuse becomes food
the few that squalor didn’t kill
expressed their gratitude.

Rubber Necking
So many different ways
to reach the same location
it all depends on how you wish to go—
a seeker often strays
before their destination
the funny thing... they seldom ever know,
distracted by obscure horizons’ glow.

Emancipate
Constraint by self-imposed restraint
Will leave your chances very faint
To find that key which sets you free
To chase your dreams wholeheartedly.

Leaving the Bubble
I gaze at that hillock
so fragrant, pristine
and think of your buttock
so taut at sixteen.
The frantic gyrations
of foolhardy youth—
too gripped with sensations
to learn from the truth.
As flashbacks unbidden
rekindle delight,
I long to stay hidden
like we were that night.

Don't Blink
A bulging bag of moments glossed
reminds us with it’s sober heft
how many fleeting frames were tossed
and just how little film is left—
focus sharpens while stowing this stash
not to flinch in the heat of the flash.

Inalienable Write
Everybody has a right
to scrawl their own confession,
dispelling some internal plight
regardless of profession;
but never picking up a pen
won’t leave the paper whiter,
and spilling ink with acumen
does not make one a writer.

Minimized
Every check already spent
on luxuries like food and rent,
if I were paid a penny less
I'd have to sell my blood to dress.

Another Man's Treasure
A local parish out to pad its vest
displayed the tithes presented by the few
devoutly true, who warm their chosen pew
each week at rest, so certain they are blessed.
Amongst the sundry alms I see a shine
of golden wonder twinkle tauntingly,
with promises of wisdom hauntingly
expressed: I greedily caress the spine,
bemused why those in search of succor would
so blithely toss these subtle clues supplied
by Lords of Reason that explored inside,
and saw the ‘Eden Lost’ like no one should.
Such loaded rifts this hardbound hoard reveals,
and all for fifty cents? We’re talking steals!
